If you are a student living on evansdale it is the hardest thing to try and drive downtown to a class. Yeah I know most of you say take the PRT but you always can't do that. It is only a two minute drive downtown but during the day it can take you anywhere from 30 minutes to an 1 hour to make it downtown. You have to leave extremely early to make it to class on time. This begins to become a pain after awhile. To top it all off once you get downtown you have to drive around forever looking for a parking spot. I think instead of building all these knew apartments downtown they should of built a huge parking garage. This would of been a lot more useful than the Moutaineer Plaza.

i agree. I dont drive downtown for class but when i do drive downtown even early afternoon to go somewhere its a reck. But that garage would definitely help.
I dont have a car here on campus, but as i walk around to get to class i see people waiting for what seems forever to get through the intersection. Sometimes when the PRT breaks down and I just walk back along the road to downtown campus, I walking next to a car that gets stopped so often that we get there at the same time, or i can even beat them when its at peak times. I definetely think this campus needs more places for cars to park.
I agree with you even though I do not have a car up here. I do not like taking the PRT because it breaks down all the time so I usually take the bus downtown and that is a nightmare. One day I was sitting on the bus for like 25 minutes to go to class and all the students got off and started walking and we beat the bus to the Mountainlair. I really do feel that they need to make a couple of parking areas so people do not have to always worry about parking and leaving so early for classes.
I have a car up here but I don't use it all that often. I read the article in the paper about this problem and found some of the ideas interesting. Someone said something about freshman not being allowed to bring a car on campus. I don't think it would be fair to make a rule like that. I also don't think it would really make that big of a difference
Parking is horrible here. It really does take ten times longer to actually find somewhere to park than it takes to drive downtown. During the afternoon hours, i will sit in the long string of traffic coming downtown from evansdale and see people walking along the side of the road that will beat me to the mountainlair by a good five minutes or so. They definatley need to build more parking areas. That would a great help.
I agree that traffic is bad downtown, but only during special events and class changes.I don't have a car and can manage fine without one.The only reason I wish I had a car was so that I had the option of driving home.If the campus made the other forms of transportion like the PRT and buses more reliable then I don't think traffic would be as bad.I still think parking would be an issue though.
i totally agree. i am not from WV so i have to have a car here so when i need to go home i can. because of this i am forced to park at the highest point of one of these mountains and still pay a pretty penny for it. i here my parking lot is one of the cheaper ones, but after walking up the mountian side every time i want to go home, i wish i would have paid for the costly ones. if WVU would build more parking lots instead of apartments we would be able to accomodate more people. they think building apartments will allow more people to attend WVU, but are they forgetting that we have to have room for those already here and if more come, that is that many more parking spots that morgantown needs and that much more traffic that morgantown will have. i think they should concentrate on making us happy since they are already getting our money, especailly before they lose us because we are unhappy.
