Poor Transportation!

As we all know, WVU is a very spacious campus. Most people will have a variety of classes uptown, as well as the same amount downtown. Trying to find parking downtown can take forever and can be expensive. Also many freshmen don’t have a car at the campus. So this leaves a lot of kids riding the PRT. Yes the PRT helps you from having to worry about things like getting a parking ticket, but the stress caused from the PRT makes you feel like it’s just as bad. Most mornings I have to leave for class forty-five minutes early just to try to catch the PRT at a time that it is working. Even then it is still broken sometimes. The line of students waiting to get from one campus to another seems like it lasts forever. Then when you are finally about to get on the PRT, after you are late for your class, the door opens and the sign shows a completely different PRT station than what you need to go to. The busses run everyday, but those fill so fast, it seems impossible to ever make it on one. Tons of students are late for class everyday, even when they have gotten up on time, or even earlier than usual. Then they walk into the class after missing half of the lecture all because of the poor transportation at this college. Does anyone else agree that the college needs to try to work on some new ways of transportation, or have the PRT problems solved?

*YES*.

I have no idea what they're going to do about it, though. The PRT "problem" has been a problem pretty much since they built the PRT. It costs millions of dollars to fix it, and there really aren't any viable alternatives to it.

One of the biggest problems (as most of you noticed this semester) is that the college routinely takes in more students each year than it can house or provide for, which puts a strain on transportation too. Not doing that means that the University would have to be stricter on who it lets in, though. Meaning, fewer of you would've been able to get into WVU.

I can't stand trying to get around in this town. I have been on the prt already 3 times when it broke down, and it's so frustrating. I hate waiting for the bus, especially when it's cold. Most of the time there is,nt even enough room on the buses to fit everyone, so I just end up waiting even longer. Something needs to happen, now that there are even more students in WVU.

I am lucky enough to have all my classes downtown and i only have to use the PRT to get to and from practice sometimes. However i completely agree with you. With the PRT being are most prominent form of transportation and the fact that it wins all sorts of awards for innovation and such you would think they would be able to put a little more money into making it efficient or find other options for transportation, im sure they have the money with all the kids that go here so step up!

Yes, the transportation at WVU can suck at times. The PRT is the worst transportation of all and I've only been here two months now and i already hate the PRT. There needs to be a fix in the PRT. This school has so much money they really should do something. The only problem with busses are that there's so many people and the busses fill quickly and you also tend to have to wait five to ten minutes for the bus. If only there were a new transportation that never broke down or didn't have to wait.

I agree that the transportation at certain times can be horrible. However, the walk to downtown is not a bad one; people will live if it comes to them having to walk to class. The transportation is even worse on the weekends, Saturday they close the PRT early and buses hardly run too, and Sunday the PRT is closed all day. This makes going downtown from Towers during the weekend impossible. The lack of transportation on the weekends is my biggest problem with transportation.
