Sports and the Economy

In today’s world most professional athletes are making millions of dollars per season. People across the planet love sports, and cheering on their favorite teams. But are athletes being over paid? In the MLB (major league baseball) there are some players making in the $20,000,000 range per season. Some of these athletes are opting out of these contracts because other teams are going to pay them even more money. Many people don’t even realize that athletes are making this much money just to entertain people and play a sport they love. But what about the doctors, teachers, and scientists, even though these professions make good money, they don’t compare to professional athletes. Professions like these are what really impact the world and make a difference and they do not make near as much money as they should. A third string NFL quarter back can make a million dollars a year for doing absolutely nothing besides practicing, as a teacher only makes $50,000 a year for educating America’s future. Overall the general message is priorities in the American economy can be controversial some times.

That is completly true, but the fact is we as Americans are to blame. We buy the jerseys, we pay for tickets, we watch the games on tv. We are the reasons that these athletes are paid so much money. These athletes are overpaid but we are the reasons that they are.

of course, these atheletes make huge amount of money which i must say they all deserve. if they are paid like the teachers and engineers that will be cheating on their side in the sense that we buy jerseys, tickets and watch them on T.V(TV rights are worth Hundreds of million dollar)is enough to show that they are worth been paid millions
It's quite metaphoric on how atheletes earns more than engineers, construction workers, teachers and most times doctors, almost all athlete are drop-outs or didn't even go to school unlike doctors and engineers who did. Back in the 60's doctors and engineers earned more than athletes but then how many people had TV's or even radio so in conclusion athletes deserve their salary.

Athletes also help our economy. Tiger Woods advertises Nike and Buick, and increases their profit dramatically. Also NFL players put their body on the line every time they go out and entertain us. Their was an athlete on the Buffalo Bills who broke his neck tackeling his opponent this season. Their are athletes who do get paid a ridiculous amount of money, but most of them also help sell products by advertising.

Athletes are getting paid that much money because without the athletes that much money wouldn't even be available. The athletes are the ones who put people in the stands and have sell out crowds at their games. Without these superstars you are not going to have nearly that much success. Not only ticket sails but concessions, merchandise, apparel and things like that are only sold because of the athletes. So if you ask me they are definitely paid amazing amounts of money but they mostly deserve it because they are the ones bringing in that cash.

Well, the money would still be available--it's coming from somewhere after all. We're just saying when we spend it on athletes that we value their entertainment of us more than we value, say, giving more money in taxes to go to teacher's salaries. Right?

I know how you feel about all the stress and hard work that you put into getting a satisfying grade on your midterm and finals. I am a freshmen this year and I studied very hard for my midterm and finals. I usually made flashcards or I took my own notes from the book. Taking my own notes really helped me understand the material a lot better. Also, when you study for all those hours it really pays of to get a passing and satisfying grade and you can really feel proud of yourself for all your hardwork.
